The coastal strip (Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Caloundra, Coolum Beach, Kawana Waters, Alexandra Headland and the Noosa area) sits close to the ocean. Salt air is a real factor here, so we specify salt-mist resistant panels, anodised or marine-grade racking and careful inverter placement. Roofs are often Colorbond or tile, and many homes carry higher wind ratings. Panel layout and component selection matter more than simply maximising the number of panels.
The elevated and central suburbs (Buderim, Mountain Creek, Sippy Downs, Bli Bli, Kuluin and Forest Glen) mix older character homes with established trees and modern family houses on larger blocks. Good solar exposure is common, but shading from vegetation and neighbouring roofs needs careful assessment. Switchboards vary widely in age, and many of these homes are strong candidates for batteries to capture afternoon and evening use.
The newer growth corridors, including Palmview, Aura (Baringa), Caloundra West, Meridan Plains, Little Mountain and surrounding estates, feature larger, more recent homes with bigger roof areas and newer electrical boards. These are often the most straightforward installs and frequently the best fit for larger solar systems paired with battery storage and EV charging.
Hinterland and rural pockets around Nambour, Palmwoods, Maleny, Montville, Yandina and Mooloolah Valley bring different considerations again: more tree cover in places, different load profiles, and sometimes three-phase supply on larger properties. These sites reward a proper site assessment rather than a standard package.
Every system on the Sunshine Coast connects to Energex, and export limits and approval conditions vary by area and system size. We handle the application and the paperwork as part of the job, so it isn’t something you need to chase.
